Preservation is the interdisciplinary act of empowering the “mirror”

When we validate a quilt, a doll, or a sampler, we are un-stitching the false narratives created by Dr. Walter Plecker and the Anglo-Saxon Clubs. We un-erasing a community’s proof of exist. We are ensuring that the next time a visitor–whether a child or a research– looks into our national archives, they don’t find a void. They find a mirror that reflects the full, complex truth of who we are. .
